Tailored + Lace The Stella Way

Only Stella McCartney can make tailored pieces and lace look like this.

I'm loving Stella McCartney more and more because of her Resort 2011 collection. Who wouldn't when the pieces are these chic?

Can we mummies pull this off? But, of course! Drop by again tomorrow as I pay yet another visit to my fantasy closet and whip up a tailored and lace ensemble.

Ta-ta for now!

snaps from the weekend

The weekend kicked off with some catching up with good friends from Manila over brunch at the new Marché in 313 Sommerset .

Followed by some pleasurable errands to Haji Lane. Pleasurable, because I love going to this place. It's an alley filled with out-of-your-way quirky shops. For some reason, there is always something new here. Good for us shoppers but not good for the shop owners as this means business is not good enough for them to thrive. Sigh.

This time around we stumbled upon a new coffee shop cum furniture shop called Cafetables. I like the interiors and the coffee ain't bad too. Hubby and I were dreaming of owning such place in Manila over our affogatos and lattes while our dear Mischka was relentlessly trying to take a sip of my drink.

Came Sunday, Le Misch and I woke up to a hubby-less home who went out for an early round of golf. He came home early and we all went out to brunch with the gang at Relish.

The weekend that was.

Saturday Brunch

Bell ringing the cow!

I was eavesdropping to their conversation and it was hilarious!

Quite possibly the freshest veggies I've ever seen.

What Misch and I had.

A push cart cum high chair. Kid-friendly resto at it's finest.

They even have bibs like this.

 At Cafetables.

Someone got to wear her gladiators that day.

Father and daughter.

Sunday Brunch

Our weekends are simply the best because of this girl.

'Hope you all had a great weekend too!

dreaming of interiors

Since we are moving back to our homeland, I have been dreaming of having our own little abode and how the interiors will look like taking into account each member of the family's personality.

It is not gonna happen soon but hey, it's free to dream and there's no harm in putting together images that inspire which hopefully will transpire...

Let me share with you a home from here which I find very inspiring.

A former shipbuilder's warehouse built in 1836, turned into a Manhattan loft.  Isn't it simply divine how this designing couple turned this industrial place into a livable and lived-in home?

I especially like that they retained the wooden columns and beams original to the structure and painted the rest of the house white to widen and enlighten.

And I cannot even begin to describe how I feel about the winch turned into a play area and their son's print-infused room! I love it to bits!

Other things I like:

  1. The graphic damask fabric used for floor-to-ceiling curtains.
  2. The prints and pops of colors used against a flat white canvas.
  3. All the pretty little details that are obviously well thought of.
Not that we'll find an old shipbuilder's warehouse in Manila and turn it into a loft.. but as I said, it's free to dream.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all woke up on a happy note to start your day and your week right!

what a week!

Now, I think am entitled to give out that clichéd expression 'thank goodness it's Friday!'

Le Misch and I had a full week, to say the least. I don't know what I was thinking but I added another hat to my slew of hats. I've taken up a role as contributing stylist to a travel magazine and had to complete my first assignment this week. Amidst running a (small) household, taking care of a (sometimes) demanding toddler (and hubby, hah!), designing, writing, and attending to our big move, I got myself committing to a deadline driven project. Oooops.

But how can I say no to a fashion and travel assignment rolled into one? And get paid for doing something you love? A wise mischmashed mummy does not say no to such grace.

So here's a peek at our week filled to the brim.

Aboard the train, day 1 of our styling adventure.

She got some free loot from Prologue.

Coffee break at Wild Honey.

Pouring over some September ish.

Loaded.
The day of the shoot.

She instantly made friends.

The Art Director of Ink thought she was the subject of the shoot. Hilarious!

Feeling at home in the studio.

What we've been running around town for.

Of course, cow had to tag along.
I couldn't be more pleased of the turn out of this week. You see, I have been stressing over whether I should take her to the shoot, leave her with a goodhearted friend or she goes with her dad to work.

Obviously,  I decided to take her with me, with the editor's go signal of course. Thank goodness for understanding bosses, child-loving employees, and melt down-free days, Le Misch and I were able to complete our little project. And complete it well, we did.

vicarious pleasures

It's Friday and Le Misch and I wish to live vicariously through these ladies. Aren't they possibly the chicest mother-daughter tandem you've ever seen?

But then again its Emmanuel Alt, Vogue Paris' Fashion Director, no less. Seen via The Sartorialist.

I'm loving...

I woke up this morning to Le Misch counting 1-2-3- gooo!! I was in the room and still in bed so I didn't see exactly what she was doing. Made my morning, nonetheless.

You see, I've been teaching her to count for weeks now but has only been showing interest to two numbers- 1 and 2. But yesterday, she counted up to 10! Yes, I almost fell off the chair in disbelief. She knew all along!!! These kids are just simply amazing, aren't they?

And because I woke up to a chirpy household (myself included), let me share with you what I'm loving now...

For my elles, harpers, vogues and previews.

For Le Misch.

For myself.

Don't you just love Anya Hindmarch and her knack for making unnecessary things completely necessary, because they are just so chic?

Fantasy Closet-- the olive green cargo

I don't remember the last time I wore cargos. Except for the occasional times I wore the pairs of cargo shorts hubby gets me every time he goes on business trips to the US. I know, I'm perplexed myself. I have no idea why he does that. I think there's a little part in him that wishes I was more sporty (for lack of a better word)?

Well, I'd like to think of it as a fashion premonition coming upon my clueless hubby. The cargo is back with a vengeance reinvented in an almost jodphurish shape and in the shade of utilitarian olive green.

I've been trying to find the right pair here in Singapore but luck has not been on my side. Meanwhile (since it's Wednesday), I will live vicariously through my fantasy closet.

Here's how the mummy-in-me will pull this trend off.

The elements:

  1. Siwy Cargo Pants Army Green, www.jade24.com
  2. Let It Be Me Blazer, www.generalpants.com
  3. Balenciaga Sunday Patchwork, www.balenciaga.com
  4. Alexander Wang Seamed Tencil Rib Tee, www.lagarconne.com
  5. Lanvin Metallic Ballerina Flats, www.net-a-porter.com
  6. Freelook Aquamarina Watch, www.endless.com

Happy stylish Wednesday mummies!  Another full day ahead of us today. I hope my little assistant bears with me and all the stuff I need to accomplish by today.

Dries (Van Noten) Me Up

Donning one label head-to-toe is a fashion faux pas. We know that. But if its Dries Von Noten, I wouldn't mind, would you?

(photos c/o style.com)

A juxtaposition of something grand with something street best describes his Fall AW 2010 collection. To me, each and every piece here is something you will use forever. Isn't that divine? I heart you, Dries Van Noten.

On a side note, I know it bags are a thing of the past, but what is this? An it way of carrying a bag? Hmmm...

Happy Tuesday ladies! Thank goodness, our unwanted guest has fled and completely left our premises. Now Le Misch and I can go back to business and work on a new challenge I've taken up of late - styling a product fashion spread for a travel magazine. Can you sense my excitement? Now, we've got to skedaddle!
