motherhood becomes me

As I was sorting out the myriad of pictures I've amassed since having Mischka, I shelved my favorites and labeled it under 'motherhood becomes me.'

Taken by CATwife Mia a month shy of giving birth. Check out her fabulous work here.

 Jurong Bird Park, Singapore
 Napa Valley, California
 Marina Club, Singapore
 The Sala Phuket, Thailand
 Shangri-La Boracay, Philippines

These are just some of the many captured memories that will forever keep me grateful.

Motherhood is no easy feat. My Le Misch(ief) is testing my patience every single day. But guess what, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Fantasy Closet {Holiday Outfit- Separates}

My long time love affair with the dress seems to be wearing off, as for the moment I am loving separates.

Grace your fĂȘtes this merry season in chic separates. The skirt and the blouse are your best bets.

Master the balancing act of textures and play of fabrics. The silk-chiffon blouse paired with the Christopher Kane Planet silk skirt may seem over-kill but the PS1 Pochette in leather and the Nicholas Kirkwood booties in suede pull the look together. Go ahead add a leather belt if you wish.

Now isn't this just the perfect ensemble to revel in when you show up at your high school reunion or office Christmas party?

The Elements:
  1. Christopher Kane Planet silk skirt, colette.fr
  2. Lover Watercolor silk chiffon blouse, net-a-porter.com
  3. Proenza Schouler PS1 Pochette, lagarconne.com
  4. Nicholas Kirkwood suede booties, brownsfashion.com
  5. Oscar dela Renta 24-karat gold plated sapphire drop earrings, net-a-porter.com
  6. D.L. & Co. Edelweiss Candle Set, barneys.com
  7. Philosophy Gingerbread Man sea salt body scrub, sephora.com

snaps from the weekend

Between a beautiful wedding and a trip to Legaspi Sunday Market, the weekend was, yet again, filled to the brim.

 SATURDAY WEDDING
A gorgeous dress courtesy of Azucar.
An emotional father and daughter dance.

SUNDAY MARKET
A stunning authentic kimono from Japan. Going for Php 15,000 ( 343 USD).
A kimono jacket for Php 500 (11 USD) which I haggled for Php 400 (9 USD)!!!

I love, love, love, these neck pieces!
One of Mischka's most favorite toy, I got from here last year. The 'Quiet Book' is very effective. We take it to plane rides, long car rides, and just about anywhere where I know there will be some idle time. These soft, interactive, travel-friendly books are handmade and are going for Php 400 (9 USD). Not bad, right?
A DIY edible snowglobe! A great gift idea for families with small children.
Our great finds from Legaspi Sunday Market.

Catch the last market day this Sunday Dec, 19. It's worth a trip. What with the array of Filipino and international cuisine and all the crafty goodness you'll find here, it's a welcome break from the craziness of the malls.

Happy Weekend!

Guess who made it to the best dressed list of 2010? Not me! Mischka did!

THE DECEMBER COVER

I recall laughing out loud when I got a message from SMART PARENTING saying that they have chosen Mischka to be on their best dressed list for the year. Funny, isn't it? The girl has no clue.

Guess, that's what happens when you're having too much fun having a girl.

Here's to a great weekend, lovelies!

snaps from the weekend

In our family, Christmas officially kicks off with my Dad's December birthday. He turned 60 last weekend and we are in the hometown to help him celebrate.

Life in Bacolod is slow. Whenever I'm here, I feel like there are more hours in a day than 24, which is great. But its a little different during the holidays. Over the weekend we had three parties to attend with lots of good Bacolodian food to devour. Burp!
The simple joys of being a kid in a laid back city of nothing-to-do. Talking to a school of fish, listening to the music the shell makes, and riding a {fake} giant turtle at the farm. She had a grand time.
No one appreciates Christmas and all the madness that comes with it more than Le Misch. She is absolutely fascinated with Santa and the big decorated tree. And in her own sweet little ways, is teaching all of us that it's MORE than just a season to get tired.

Fantasy Closet-- Flair on Flare

I'm not big on jeans and tight skinnies but the raw kind in wide-leg flares is my cup of tea. As mentioned a few posts ago, I am looking forward to the 70's inspired fashion of Spring 2011. But why wait when you can wear this now?

The elements:
  1. Bainbridge Denim Trousers, longtallsally.com
  2. Julien MacDonald Cable Sweater, lagarconne.com
  3. Mulberry Bayswater, johnlewis.com
  4. Fendi Suede and Leather Boots, colette.fr
  5. Kate Spade Twirl, sephora.com
  6. Asos Leather Boyfriend Belt, asos.com
  7. DSquared Antique Effect Necklace, dsquared2.com

snaps from the weekend {a very late post}

We had a great weekend. It came with an extra day with Monday being a national holiday. We had so much fun, it trickled it's way on to the rest of the week. Hence my delinquency.

Here's our rather late weekend roundup.

 Saturday afternoon swim.
 Saturday night flamenco at Barcino's.
I had an awesome time watching my M & m run around the field on a wonderful Sunday morning.
The extended weekend of lights, Christmas hullabaloo, and a little shopping.

The weekend of levity that was.

Flared Up

The flare is back. Not to scare but to dare!

I am so loving the 70's influence on Spring 2011 and apparently it's not just me. A lot of note-worthy style mavens have popped up in this almost always flattering cut of pants. And it's not even spring yet.

These images are making my day.

I'm thinking of unearthing my flares when I get home tonight. Do you dare to flare?

life as a bag knows it

Collaborated with 2 other mums mastering juggling acts of motherhood, better halves, entrepreneurs, and above all independent women-- that and the fact we all lug things around every single day leading our oh so mischmashed lives.

Hence these.

Nothing stellar. Just plain chic and functional everyday totes to add ease and flair to your everyday lives.

Made of high quality laminated canvas and leather handles, these are big enough to hold your needs for the baby, for working out, for the weekend, and for your trip to the supermarket! All these you can do in style. And for Php 880 (19 USD), how can you go wrong?

 So cheeky and so happy.

Catch the Rockwell Moonlit Bazaar this weekend beginning today at 12noon and grab a tote (or 2).

Happy Christmas shopping and happy long weekend!!!

Fantasy Closet --Udpating While Elongating

I owe a friend a trip to the coveted fantasy closet with a mission in mind. She wants to update her own with perennially flattering pieces that give the illusion of height.

Here's what I found.

 The Elements:
  1. Wide leg pants ending at the heels of your shoe is the most flattering.  Rag & Bone Perry Pants, barneys.com
  2. V neck tops lengthen the neck. Maison Martin Margeila, lagarconne.com
  3. Avoid oversized bags and go for the long strapped and structured. Proenza Schouler Small PS11, barneys.com
  4. Feminine and pointy pairs work best. Louis Vuitton, vogue.com.jp
  5. Vertical stripes for slimming and lengthening is cliché but empire cuts allow you to borrow some length from your torso thus gifting you with the illusion of that elusive few inches. John Lewis Cross Over Stripe Dress, johnlewis.com
  6. A long pendant necklace will not overwhelm and is a nice finishing touch. Alexander McQueen Swarovski Antique Brass Pendant, net-a-porter.com
Hope you're all having a stylish Wednesday!
