beautiful random things

Isn't this idea brilliant? I, for one, is a sucker for nice packaging and throwing away a pretty, well-thought of shopping bag sometimes breaks my heart.

Until I amassed a good number of shopping bags worth framing and find a perfect blank wall for hanging, will I only be able to do this. No rush, no pressure.. I'm just gonna keep this idea for future use.

What do you with beautiful packaging? Do you have the heart to throw them away?

Have a lovely Thursday, friends.

Love Your Own Challenge

Im playing catch up with my challenge. Turns out, what's more challenging is posting outfit looks everyday! You see, I'm not much of a subject for the person behind the lenses, in this case our nanny-- hah!

Yesterday's homegrown pieces were the Faith Hope Love drapey jersey top (on heavy rotation due to its versatility), Pill sandals I scored for a song, Jean & Rosz studded bracelet, and the chic and roomy Loxton canvas tote from Chicify.

Faith Hope Love and Pill available at The Ramp with details here

So far so good.

Fantasy Closet {Short Story}

Temperatures are rising in the metro (read-- scorching heat!) that all I want to wear are shorts. Not the denim cut-offs though. Let's save that for the beach. (Wait, I don't even own a pair of those!) Be that as it may, shorts are to be donned but in a polished, more sophisticated way.

The Elements:
  1. Topshop Coral Cut Out Shorts
  2. Topshop Oversized Tee
  3. Tory Burch Straw Tote
  4. Sigerson Morrison Suede T-bar Flats
  5. Bell & Ross Watch
  6. Topshop Wrap Bracelets
Has spring sprung yet at your side of the world? What are you donning?

Love Your Own Challenge

I'm doing a little challenge this week. For 7 days I vow to wear something I created or at least had a hand in creating. I love homegrown fashion. I wear mine with pride and I'd like to share them with you.

Dissecting Monday's outfit resulted to 3 homegrown pieces- Faith Hope Love black trousers with tie, Matryoshka ring by Kathy Webb, and an art deco neck piece by Cosmopolitan Clothing.

Find Faith Hope Love here. Cosmopolitan is available at The Ramp with details here. And watch out for Kathy Webb here at our very pages-- very soon!

Easter Weekend Tidbits

Whew! What a day we had yesterday. We went to the farm. Fed the bunnies and the guinea pigs; rode the horse and the carabao too; painted eggs; hunted eggs; swam; and gave away bunny envelopes stuffed with lollies-- all in a day's work! If that's not over-stimulation, I don't know what you call it.

When she woke up the next day first thing she asked was "Where are my eggs, Mama?"

She had a whale of fun and we are happy to see an animal-lover grow before our eyes. Well, more like hubby is over-the-moon. After all, working at the San Diego Zoo is topping his list of dream jobs.

How did you spend your Easter Sunday? Wishing it was fun and meaningful!

Happy Easter!

We're off to some egg-hunting, farm-visiting, pool-partying Easter fun today. And what's Easter without some honest-to-goodness crafting?

Yesterday, we were occupied with egg painting and bunny envelope making. It was a spur of the moment activity.
We stuffed the bunny envelopes with lollies to give away to her Kindermusik classmates whom we're celebrating with today.
Someone's very egg-cited!

P.S. If you wanna do some Easter crafting with your little one today, try the bunny envelopes. Follow the easy steps here.

Palazzo

I've gotten my pleated skirt fix, now I am slightly obsessed with palazzo pants. It doesn't seem to end, I know. Sigh.

Oh well, just wanted to share what I'm loving right now.

This looks like the perfect pair.

Have you got a SS2011 piece you're obsessing about?

Two New York + Carioca

I was smitten with Two New York ever since my serendipitous discovery via Design Mom.
You see, I love caftans. I think they are utterly chic and forgiving. With baby, post-baby, no baby, or just plain mummying, caftans are the most versatile piece in every woman's closet.
My heart did a little somersault clicking through Two New York's collection. I want every single piece! I especially like the styling of the photos, with a baby playing in the background. Speaks right through my motherly (fashion) instinct.
Ahhh.. Two New York.. Makes me want to revive the caftan line my sister and I started 4 years ago.
We called it Carioca for our love and dream of chic island living. It literally refers to the native inhabitants of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Oh yes, we dreamed of frolicking and dwelling on the shores of Rio and be girls from Ipanema. That's silly, thinking about it now.

I am entertaining thoughts of reviving Carioca though, thanks to Two New York

Happy Weekend!

I try to be as efficient as I can when packing especially with Le Misch coming along. I hate over packing but sometimes it's inevitable with her around.

What are your plans this weekend?

a dash of FAITH, a slab of HOPE, and a whole lot of LOVE

Fresh off  The Ramp Crossings' solo show in Ayala Mall's Style Origin series last Tuesday, let me share with you a hefty serving of this summer's fashion.

Seems like every color of the rainbow is well represented this season. On my end, its- coral, orange, sunny yellow, turquoise.. tropical hues that make you want to jump on the next plane to Ibiza, Boracay, Fiji- what have you.

But hey, vacation or staycation-- Faith Hope Love's summer collection will get you through the season in style.
Andi Eigenmann wears Faith Hope Love.
At the store.
At the show.
Some ways to wear.

This is, by far, my most faved collection. I can't thank The Ramp enough for this wonderful opportunity. As I mentioned before, Faith Hope Love is my other baby.

Have you shopped yet this season? Be sure to make The Ramp your first stop!

Fantasy Closet {Taipei 101}

Our little family is off to sojourn in Taipei this weekend and we couldn't be more excited. It's our first time. We've heard so many good things about it and they say it's a nice place to travel to with kids. Hence we are bringing the little miss.

I'm not sure if that's such a good idea, but hey I don't want to be tagged a heart breaker again, ok?

When packing for a place where I haven't been to and is unsure of how they dress over there, I usually just pack neutrals with some pops of color here and there.

I wish I had these to pack.

The Elements:
  1. Maison Martin Margiela Wide Leg Trouser
  2. Haider Ackermann Tank
  3. Vanessa Bruno Knit Cardigan
  4. Reiss Sweat Shirt
  5. Hermes Cape Cod Watch
  6. YSL Washed Leather Easy Bag
  7. Tory Burch Tan Revas
  8. Giambattista Valli Metal Cuff Sandals
Have you been to Taipei? Travel (and shopping) tips are most welcome!

Tickled Pink + Happy Weekend!

I'm blushing and tickled pink to find myself in two features this week. First, it's crazy to have my creations land in the virtual pages of ShopCrazy.com.

And then there's that Yummy Mummy Style Profile over at Leona's tumblr.

We had so much fun shooting that day. Even Le Misch was in her element, trying on clothes and accessories for her turn.

There's only one person to thank for these awesome mentions. Leona, you're such a doll. Thank you for making our week. Follow Leona's fun journey on pregnancy and motherhood and get fab styling tips while at it, over here

I've got a crazy, busy working weekend ahead of me and I'm a bit panicky. Talk about spreading yourself too thin.

Anyhoo, out the door we go and we wish you all a pleasant weekend!

Mischmash Stylish Mama {April}

Vicky Marchadesch, Assistant General Manager, Branded Lifestyle Inc (Distributor of Luxury Eyewear) and a doting mother to Sancho, 10 y.o.
I've never quite seen a collection brimming with baubles so beautiful, they're definitely conversation pieces.
Her closet is like an archive of vintage and fabulous finds. To sift through it is close to getting a sensory overload. It's as vibrant as her personality too.
As if every single piece has a story to tell.
She can never have enough.
Some details worth capturing.
Devouring a trunkful of vintage goodness from her late mum and aunt.
We even found a ticket to a Manila Symphony Society's performance at the Manila Metropolitan Theater dated July 14, 1981, in one of the clutches!
Her home very well echoes her personal style. Retro, vintage, chic-- three words that effortlessly come to mind upon entering her eclectic abode.

My mind went blank with this question.  I know what I'm not:  I am NOT a minimalist.  But I'm not sure what I am... I'm a wild mix of prints, patterns and pieces that sometimes one would never think to put together... I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll??! These are how some of my friends would describe my style: Vintage, boho, eclectic, retro-chic... and glam glam glam all the way because I like to EXcessorize!

What are you wearing this summer?
For work wide leg trousers, bow blouses, blousons, maxi skirts, serious platforms, and lots of one-piece assymmetrical dresses so i can just slip it on and head out the door without ever sacrificing style.
For non-work: maxi dresses, flare jeans, flowy tops, dolman-sleeve tops, summer stripes, platform wedges,  oversized Prada sunnies, scarves (that can be worn 10 million different ways) and my ultimate fave-- CAFTANS!

What's your favorite SS2011 trend you think mums can pull off?
I dont follow the trends that much so I dont know what the SS 2011 trends are exactly.... What I do know is that I'm so glad 70's is back in a big way this summer, at least for me. I am a firm devotee of 70's glamour.

Closet staples?
I have two (much)...haha!
Anything in black:  dresses, trousers, tees, tanks, leggings, jeans, underwear.  It's slimming, ergo, a must. And, anything in animal print: leopard, zebra, tiger, snake.  I am convinced that the animal print is actually a neutral... in small doses of course.

What is that one piece you can't live without fashion/motherhood-wise?

Accessories is everything. More is more.

How are you influencing your son's personal style?
Sancho is a sports-nut like his Dad and lives on football jerseys and rubber shoes.  But luckily when we travel, he likes to accessorize with Rayban junior aviators, fedoras, baller bands and leather cord necklaces... plus he looks good in Vintage Levi's.

Style icons?
Talitha Getty, DVF, Diana Ross (love the big hair and the disco-gold!), India Hicks and Rachel Zoe...
And I am in awe of the personal high styles of Oscar dela Renta, YSL and Halston.

Tip or 2 for all mums out there who want to stay stylish amidst all the hullabaloo motherhood brings? Any shopping advice?

Frugal is the new black.
When in doubt or buying a pricey item, I always keep in mind the absolutely critical, cost-per-wear ratio.  I divide the cost of the item by the number of times I will wear it in a given period. So a P5,000 pair of shoes worn 20 times has a cost per wear of P250. My goal is to shoot for a CPW of P100 or less.
Go green!
Not only is vintage shopping a fabulous way to find unique, one-of-a-kind clothes and accessories... it's also eco-friendly.  Pre-loved stuff (my better term for "USED") is here to stay, in my opinion.  Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Thank you Vicky for sharing your fabulous style with us. Yours is beyond inspiring if not, riveting. You are a true testament that mummying-in-style is indeed possible.

Very special thanks to Anthony Co for the fabulous photography. I am humbled and grateful you accepted this little project.

'Till the next stylish mama, lovelies. Meanwhile read the prelude to this series if you missed it.
