Layering Jewelry 101

Layering is a styling trick that's not exactly the easiest to pull off. As much as I want to apply it to clothing, our weather around here is not very cooperative. Next best thing would be jewelry. But piling without planning can be catastrophic. I know the goal is to look effortless, but almost always, its not. Thus, I'm sharing with you some simple layering formulas that seem to work just fine for me.

Formula 1 calls for contrast in a minimalist collar vs a busy charm necklace. Layer the 2 together and you get a statement piece even more striking. One that will definitely take your tank top + jeans ensemble a notch higher. Just make sure the 2 share the same color scheme. {JO by Joyce Orena Denim Urban Jungle necklace, Yhansy Collar necklace}
Formula 2 is all about choosing a piece to be your focal point. In this case its the studded wrap watch. Add a few more guys in the same color family and you have a happy arm party. {JO by Joyce Orena Blue Moon bracelet, La Mer Collections Bali Stud Wrap watch, JO by Joyce Orena Chain bracelet}

Formula 3 gives dainty pieces the right to be dainty yet edgy. By piling pendant necklaces in varying lengths, you are able to create a look that is quite random yet certainly unique. {Yhansy Skull necklace,  Panopio x Zalora Initial necklace}

Happy layering!

Love Your Own Challenge

Thursday, I was channeling the 70's with homegrown pieces being a neckpiece I hand crafted, a Kathy Webb statement ring, and as you can see I haven't changed bags in 3 days now. Still loving the Loxton canvas tote from Chicify.

creation of the week + happy weekend!

Hello from Ba-cool-od! Le Misch and I are in town in time for her birthday fiesta next week and we are beyond excited!

So just a quick post, lovelies. I've a made pact with myself of late to find time for one of my passions- putting together baubles from my collection of stones, beads, and whatnots. At least one creation a week, is all I ask.

Enter, this week's neck piece creation.

Handmade from antique gold chains, tortoise-like rings from Hong Kong, bamboo ring from Singapore, and a mix of stones. My little assistant and I are trying to put together a collection. She has shown genuine interest and I couldn't be more pleased. Although after 15 minutes or so of tinkering, she goes "I'm done!" and moves on to the next stimulating activity.

Have a lovely weekend, friends!

Happy Weekend!

I vow to finish this {among other things} today, or at least over the weekend.

I've ran out of excuses to get back to doing things that make me feel productive the most. My hands are itching to finish and finally put a clasp on this little creation of mine. Time has not been on my side but now that the holidays are over, I have the weekend to get down and creative before it gets crazy again.

Mischka, please cooperate as I also vow to make the rest of the year prolific, creative, and innovative. 2011 is gonna be our year, my dear!

Wishing everyone an awesomely productive weekend!

she's a natural

One of my greatest passions in life is creating beautiful things (well beautiful to me, that is). Another passion are accessories. My little sis once told me, that I can never get out of the house without any form of fashion accessory on. Could be true. As I always feel bare without any.

I don't like piling on too much though. I somewhat know when it's too much or too little. I only like statement pieces. And as of late, I am into statement necklaces.

I have a box of beads, trinkets, ribbons, stones, and stuff I use for jewelry making. I have no formal training whatsoever. I just go with the flow and do whatever fancies me.

And every single time I bring out this box, one little person is happiest in the house
.

I know you might think it's not safe as she might swallow the beads and stones, but fear not. This little budding artist of mine can tell the difference between food and what's not.

She's a natural. She just instantly slips those bangle looking bamboo rings right to her wrist.

What we have created that day. It's a special order from a good friend. I hope she likes it.

It's nice to turn my passion into a little enterprising act and involving my precious little one in the process. She is, after all, my greatest source of inspiration.

Happy weekend everyone!
