The Vintage Country

I am in constant search for beautiful things even in the most unlikely places. And whenever I come across a pretty discovery, no matter how random it may be, happy as a clam it will make me.

Just recently Le Misch and I stumbled upon The Vintage Country. A shabby-chic, French country vintage-inspired retail shop with a plethora of pretty offerings.

The yellow and blue bird cage we got for my Mum and she absolutely loved it! Oh and for PHP 550 (USD 12.50) it's a steal!!! They only have 5 pieces of the bird houses and the only one left that time was the equally charming red and blue one.

They will soon offer etiquette workshops for little ladies. Too bad Le Misch is under aged for it.  I heard about tea parties too. I am so loving the concept.

We are going back for that life sized (Mischka's size) Matryoshka doll. I am still in the process of fixing up a room for the little one and that Russian doll would be a nice finishing touch. Uhhmm, you see, I am obsessed with these dolls ever since a trip to Russia 3 years ago, when I brought home right about 10 nesting dolls (or was it 12?) Did I mention, the life sized doll is only PHP 450 (USD 10)? Again-- a steal!!!

A lot of chic painted wrought iron furni and lovely breakable knick-knacks. It's hard to leave this place without buying anything. That is if you happen to have a penchant for vintage-inspired, unique pieces.

Here are some of the things you'll find at this charming shop.

Vintage Circa 1970's Hanging Chair, PHP 13000 (USD 295)

Teal High Back Chair, PHP 8000 (USD 180)

Vintage Fabric Bulletin Cork Boards, price unavailable

Lucy Vintage-inspired Luggage, price unavailable

Vintage-inspired Necklace, PHP 300 (USD 6)

Now isn't this place worth a trip down south?

Happy Weekend!

Look who's ready for the weekend! She's been cooped up for over a week now and I can see why she gets cranky once in awhile. A bit of a change for someone who's used to going out every single day for most of her life.

Yesterday, I took her out for a walk in the village and she insisted on bringing a dog. The lucky pick of the day was Chanel! (I'm married to a dog lover who by the way, has 8 dogs at home. And a bird, and a turtle, and some fish-- we pretty much live in a zoo!).

The walk got a little too much for demure Chanel that she jaunted into the pram too. What a pooch!

Here's to a happy weekend, you all!

Style Stalking-- Olivia Palermo

Effortless, insanely stylish, clever high-low mix (she wears Topshop and carries a Birkin), and a knack for putting a personal spin on statement pieces-- Olivia Palermo, pardon me, but I may have to style stalk you.

I can add pictures of her in my favorite looks the whole night. Good thing I was able to contain myself and pick my top 8.

So mummies, when you're feeling a little dowdy, take cues from Miss P and trust me, you'll be up and snazzy in no time!

The SALA Experience

I've been raving about this place and quite honestly I still think about it. I am simply amazed at the Thais' creativity and flair for design. They don't try too hard and yet they get it. They just do.

From high end fashion brands like Flynow to mid-range Jaspal (not to mention Jaspal Home!) to designer label Stretsis, to boutique hotels like Indigo Pearl and of course my beloved Condé Nast Traveler awardee, SALA. The Thais have yet again outdone themselves.

The very chic Sino Portuguese architecture, the beautiful Thai people, the world-class service, and the pampering spa escapade along with these photos pretty much sum up our sublime SALA experience.

Wow, I can't believe the week is also over. Today I have decided to stay home and spend the whole day with Le Misch. Ever since we got back, I have been extremely busy catching up with work and a lot of socials that I'm starting to miss our simple, blissful Singapore life. Makes me wonder, have we really gone home?
