Mischmash Recommends {Mulberry & Child}

If you ever find yourself in the laid back city of Bacolod, make sure to drop by Mulberry & Child especially if you, yourself have a child. Mine was in high spirits when we visited the shop trying on cute dresses and animal masks.

This concept store for all things kids, is a first of its kind in Bacolod. Their collection of dresses are so pretty and well made. They also carry books, Ipanema Kids, soft plush toys, and a cologne line- all for kids!

It's always nice to go to a store that is solely for the little people in our lives and is not just an after thought.

Bacolod Tidbits

We're fresh off our Bacolod vacay and heres a roundup of what we've been up to in my hometown. The main event was my Lola turning 86(!) which of course prompted us to do a little DIY for the fĂȘte. Making good use of old pillow cases, table runners, and wine bottles, we put up a garland and decorated the center pieces. With that, I had my needed dose of creativity fix.

Another highlight was a day trip to DSB (Don Salvador Benedicto). Le Misch had a whale of fun. What, with all the animals she saw on the way and back! Of course, our hometown sojourn will not be complete without a trip to the farm, eating sweet mangoes, and nonstop laughter with the family especially now that my little miss goes by 50 words-per-minute on average.

Weekend Tidbits

THE phone to have NOW. The now phone is the Netphone.
The Mr. having some Wave 89.1 action.
The place was filled to the brim. And the line outside was still insanely long.
Andi Manzano and KC Montero hosted.
Armed for the night.
Suffice to say the highlight of the weekend was Smart Netphone's grand launch. This is just one of the rare occasions mummy goes clubbing. I'm so not cut for the clubbing scene. But boy did I have fun! I tell you, no one else throws a party like Smart
In other news, Le Misch and I are in the hometown for a week-long family bonding. My little seasoned traveler is such a delight to travel with. It's just the 2 of us. No nanny in tow and no Dada too. (As you can tell above, he is still crazy busy with the Netphone.) No fuss, no tantrums, nothing. So in spite of my Netphone hangover, we made it through the flight. Thank goodness.

The weekend that was. How was yours?

P.S. The Smart Netphone is out in the market! Be sure to check it out at all Smart Stores or online and see why this phone is THE one phone to have now. I shall tell you how this phone fits a mum-on-the-go-who-goes-clubbing-once-in-a-while lifestyle like mine, in another post.

Mischmash Giveaway {Ipanema for Little Feet}

This is Mischka's second pair of Ipanemas. It's one of her beach staples and is the comfiest pair of slippers ever. The toe ring style doesn't seem to bother her at all. No complaints whatsoever from a very verbal 2 y.o. It MUST be really comfortable.

The moment she started walking, she was in her Ipanemas which she then outgrew fast. Now, she  couldn't get enough of her orange pair.

And since we only like to give away stuff we absolutely love...

Mischka (yes, this is her giveaway!) together with our cool sponsors, Ipanema Philippines and Mulberry & Child is giving away 2 pairs to 2 lucky readers! One especially for Bacolod City readers and one for national/international.
5 pretty styles for you to choose from with 1, 3, and 4 coming in several yummy colors. Sizes available are from age 4-8.

In Bacolod, the kid's range is available in Mulberry & Child, a one-stop shop for all things pretty for the tiny!
If you happen to be a mum and reside in laid back Bacolod, lucky you, as now the city is even chicer and cooler with Mulberry & Child. Pop in and bring your little ones over at 2L Balay Quince, Lacson St. Bacolod City.

Here are simple steps for your chance to win.

  1. Follow Ipanema Philippines and Mulberry & Child in Facebook.
  2. Follow A Mischmashed Life on Google Friend Connect.
  3. Follow @mischmashmikka on Twitter.
  4. Leave a comment on this post on which style and size you'd like to come your way should you be the lucky reader! Please state where you're from too.

Recipe for a Leisurely Picnic with a Toddler

Okay, so we finally had a picnic- in BACOLOD! In case you're wondering where there, you'd be surprise. And if you're from there, you'd think it's funny.

Here's what you need.

 SUPPLIES:
a picnic basket
a mat or a large blanket
a ball
1 large bowl
measuring cup and spoon

INGREDIENTS:
1 clear, breezy afternoon
1 small carton of milk
1 small carton of juice
1 bottle of Chardonnay
1 basketful of snacks
6 lb. of grass
1 gallon of excitement
2 cups of laughter
1 pint of creativity
10 loads of energy

Preheat your afternoon to a pleasant 25°Celsius. Mix in all ingredients in a large bowl except for the grass and the ball. Pour into a pan and bake for 20 minutes. When done, sprinkle with grass and top with a ball. Serve with a smile, some small toys, and a light read. Enjoy for 2 hours.

Suffice to say, it was a success. Thanks to the hedonist in us, Le Misch and I are able to find yet another pleasurable and enriching activity without having to spend a lot.

Try it! It's such an easy recipe!

Fantasy Closet {Laid Back Corporate}

There's no slacking on style even when you live in a laid back city, more so if you work in a corporate industry. It was a little bit of a challenge to put together an ensemble for strong and independent career women (some are lawyers) residing in Bacolod as requested by a dear reader.

As usual my fantasy closet did not disappoint.

I urge you to look your part and be stylishly corporate in a more relaxed mood. Cropped trousers and a light weight, drapey tuxedo jacket will do the trick. Don't leave your baubles at home but keep it at minimal doses. High heeled pumps are a MUST and empowering. Where else will you wear them but in a board room or the court room?

The Elements:

  2. TIBI Business Sarouel Pants, maryandpaul.de
  3. 3.1 Philip Lim Pocketed Silk Blouse, net-a-porter.com

  5. Rock and Republic Snake/Patent Pumps, footcandyshoes.com

snaps from the weekend

In our family, Christmas officially kicks off with my Dad's December birthday. He turned 60 last weekend and we are in the hometown to help him celebrate.

Life in Bacolod is slow. Whenever I'm here, I feel like there are more hours in a day than 24, which is great. But its a little different during the holidays. Over the weekend we had three parties to attend with lots of good Bacolodian food to devour. Burp!
The simple joys of being a kid in a laid back city of nothing-to-do. Talking to a school of fish, listening to the music the shell makes, and riding a {fake} giant turtle at the farm. She had a grand time.
No one appreciates Christmas and all the madness that comes with it more than Le Misch. She is absolutely fascinated with Santa and the big decorated tree. And in her own sweet little ways, is teaching all of us that it's MORE than just a season to get tired.

snaps from the weekend

Over the weekend, I witnessed one of my high school besties marry the love of her life. With Le Misch battling a stubborn cough and colds and me, sheer exhaustion, we were still delirious to be part of the happy union.

It was also Halloween but trick or treating was not on the agenda until after the wedding. And as sloppy as it may sound, we spent it at the mall. Sorry Misch, let's do better next time.

It felt good to be home. This trip was all about family, good ole friends, and Mischka having a great time. Though the latter deemed difficult with her being sick and all, she didn't let that get in her way to have loads of fun still.

A chic black and gold wedding, an impromptu trick or treating, and some well deserved play for the little girl. The filled-to-the-brim weekend that was.
