Mischmash Travels {LA-LA Land}

For our 3-day pit stop in LA, we made sure it was filled to the brim. We made a list of the spots we wanted to hit and restaurants we wanted to try. Of course, we barely made it halfway our list but we were decided to make the 7-hour road trip we took from San Francisco all worthwhile.
A quiet lunch with my little family over Mario Batali's fare is nothing short of perfect to celebrate my 32nd.
Outfit credits: dress, The Ramp/ cape, bought from Hong Kong/ boots, JCrew/ bag, Alexander Wang
We bumped into singer/designer Kate Torralba at the Grove.  It's always nice to bump into a friend in a foreign land.
Ask the girl what her most favorite hotel is and she will tell you-- the W, in a heartbeat. Her outfit: top, Carter's/ tights, SM/ shoes, Nordstrom (as seen in other pictures)
What's a trip to Hollywood without a picture with the infamous sign? Tis the best the Mr. can do though. Meanwhile, Mischka's outfit: sweater, Missoni x Target/ pants, H&M/shirt, Cotton On, sneakers, Superga.
Topping the LA list was the Getty Center. Outfit credits: blouse, Pink Manila at The Ramp/ skirt, H&M/ boots, Aldo.
To be able to stare at Van Gogh's Irises for a good few minutes was the highlight of our Getty experience.
Of course, I had to stop by Kelly Wearstler's flagship on Melrose Avenue. The store and everything in it are ahhhmaaazing!
Goodbye LA! We'd definitely make more time, next time!

of wangs and benitos

I was obsessing on this

and was on the brink of buying it until I met this

I was smitten by the Alexander Wang Rocco Duffel seasons ago. I wanted the black but when I saw the tan, I was confused. However, when I got a hold of it in Barneys 2 months ago, I was put off by its weight and apparently so was a lot of other admirers.

And then they put it on sale at almost half the price. Very tempting. I would check it online almost everyday until one day it was no longer there.

And then I was introduced to Jovan Benito (her work) by my art connoisseur friend Mia. I said to myself before that if I ever buy myself a painting, it would be a mother and child rendition.

I fell in love with it the moment I laid eyes on it at Gallery Joaquin. Mia had little convincing to do with me, but I had a lot—with hubby.

Up to this day I still haven’t decided between a Wang and a Benito. (They share almost the same price tags, mind you.)

But I have gotten some progress with hubby. I sparked new interest in art on him and now he’s hooked on Benito too. Now were torn between this

and having one commissioned.

Though there are days I still dream of that mother and child rendition hanging on our bare walls... We'll see.

Resort 2011 Already?!!

I am barely even done with my Holiday collection for FHL (Faith Hope Love) and major fashion houses have showed Resort 2011 already! Phew! Fashion dear, it can be hard to keep up with you especially when you get caught up with things like having a baby and running a household.

But I will persist. Thanks to style.com, I can still manage to be on top of what's happening out there.

Here are my top picks from Resort 2011.

Crisp looks from fashion's new darling Alexander Wang

Hard to pull this off in Sillypore though. (Especially when you have a pram to push around.)

Avantgarde + Feminine at Roksanda Ilincic

I can imagine my hubby's perplexed face when he sees me in this. He has a hard time getting it sometimes.

Nice to wear to a wedding. That is if the bride doesn't mind a guest in white.

Understated Chic at Celine

Hubby will possibly roll his eyes again at this.. or maybe not.

Inspirations for FHL.

I was ecstatic when I learned Phobe Philo is back and has joined Celine 2 seasons ago. Such a breath of fresh air from all the excess of the grunge and rock chick looks of not so long ago. Looking forward to more of her in the coming seasons!

Now back to mummy duties. Gotta give Le Misch a nice warm bath. Something I look forward to every single day.
